TritonII, a system as the result of a DoD HPCMP (High Performance Computing and Modernization Program) / HPVCI (High Performance Visualization Center Initiative) project, was developed by Dr. Zhanping Liu (for the flow visualization part) in collaboration with Sean B. Ziegeler (for the scalar visualization part) at MSU / ERC using VRJuggler and OpenGL on Unix platform for immersive explorative visualization of time-varying oceanographic-atmospheric data in CAVE™ (Cave Automatic Virtual Environment). TritonII integrates a wide variety of visualization techniques such as real-time terrain rendering, iso-surfaces, cutting planes, arrow plots, streamlines / pathlines / timelines / streaklines on Cartesian / Curvilinear grids, topological feature extraction, LIC, FastLIC, and UFLIC
